N scale track plan small

Dean’s been in touch with his small N scale track plan.

Have a look at what he’s done:

You can see the picture’s of Dean’s N scale layout here.

Dean shares updates from New Mexico about his train projects, eagerly looking forward to more. His Conejos Valley Railroad is almost done, and he’s already thinking about his next one, using SCARM software to plan. He talks about different layouts he’s tried, each showing how he’s learning and improving.

Thinking about Dean’s story, it’s clear that building model trains isn’t just a hobby—it’s a learning experience. Every mistake teaches something new, making each layout special.

His layout has two main loops. The outer loop includes a crossover section that forms a smaller additional loop. The inner section branches off the main loop and then rejoins it, creating complexity in the track design.

The layout includes 2 stations ,a loading dock ,engine house, factory, support building, mine and oil tank pad.

I really like what Dean has done with his small N scale track plan. It’s simple but looks complex. Again, it’s a small point, but a little planning generally goes a long way with a layout.

Adding buildings to your scenery is another dollop of fun and can really make a layout pop.

Here’s another N scale layout if that’s your thing:
