4 Loop N scale layout with turntable

I hope you like my modest little 4 loop N scale layout, this is my first attempt.

The location is of nowhere in particular, I just made it up as i went along. It’s not finished yet, a bit of weathering and a few more vehicles, but the main thing is i have really enjoyed it , after all that’s what this or any hobby is all about.

You can see all the pics of Ron’s layout here.

I really like what Ron has done. He’s packed a lot in to his layout but it doesn’t look too cramped or busy – it’s a really fine line but he’s done a really good job – have a look a the pics of his layout and you’ll see what I mean.

It’s a really simple track plan too – 4 loops joined together with turnouts, sidings in the middle, and then the fun bit, the turntable.

I always find it’s the simple track plans that work best, they are least likely to cause the utter frustration of derailments, or just annoying stops and starts.

Any layout can be made more interesting by adding inclines – making the outer loops higher than the others is something you see quite a lot of, but with it comes the risk that your trains won’t run so smoothly.

Anyhow, Ron didn’t need to do this because his layout is spot on, as the pictures show.

What’s more, he has saved a small fortune by using the model train printable buildings. I think I’d go blind if I made any of them at N scale, but many of work miracles on the tiny, tiny builds.
